PBR texturing for existing 3D assets

AI PBR Texture Generator for Existing 3D Models

Upload an existing UV-mapped GLB, guide its materials with text or an image, and inspect the generated result before downloading. This is model retexturing, not a new-geometry or seamless 2D texture workflow.

“Dark royal knight armor, polished black steel, deep blue enamel, rich gold trim, high-contrast fantasy game style”

The model, map counts, file size, and animation count come from the downloadable GLB—not from a staged render.

GLB files need usable UVs. Compatible rigs retain their skeleton, skin weights, and animations after the preservation check. Failed tasks automatically return the generation credits.

Your model and optional reference image are sent to Tripo only after you click Generate. Upload only assets you are authorized to process. Read our Privacy Policy and Terms and Acceptable Use Policy.

Workflow

From an existing GLB to available PBR files

  1. 01

    Upload an existing GLB

Start with a UV-mapped model up to 50MB. The geometry and UV layout are supplied by you.

  2. 02

    Guide the material direction

Describe the look with a prompt, or add a JPG, PNG, or WebP reference image.

  3. 03

    Choose and generate

Select Standard, Detailed, or Extreme and review the credit cost before starting.

  4. 04

    Inspect and download

Rotate the generated result in the browser, then download the GLB and available maps.

What the PBR maps are for

  • Base Color carries the visible surface color.
  • Normal adds small-scale surface direction for lighting.
  • Roughness controls how broadly the surface reflects light.
  • Metallic describes metal-like versus non-metal response.

The exact maps available depend on the completed generation result. Use the textured GLB as the quickest handoff, or continue tuning individual maps in Blender.

Honest limits

  • • You need a usable UV-mapped GLB; the tool does not create or repair UVs.
  • • It retextures existing geometry; it does not generate a new 3D model.
  • • It is not a seamless or tileable 2D texture maker.
  • • Final shader setup, lighting, optimization, and engine tuning remain yours.

Need a visual style? Read the reference-image workflow or learn how to preserve an animated GLB. For a flat repeating image, use the seamless texture tool.

PBR texture generator FAQ

What does this PBR texture generator accept?

It accepts an existing UV-mapped GLB up to 50MB. You can guide the result with a text prompt, an optional style image, or a reference image.

What does the generated result include?

A successful task provides a textured GLB and the available Base Color, Normal, Roughness, and Metallic maps. The exact map set depends on the generation result.

Does it create a new 3D model or UV unwrap my asset?

No. You provide the model geometry and usable UVs. This workflow changes the surface materials; it does not create geometry, repair UVs, or automatically unwrap the model.

Is this the same as a seamless texture maker?

No. This page textures an existing 3D model and can return PBR maps. A seamless texture maker processes a flat image for repeating use and does not create a complete PBR material set.

Will an animated GLB keep its rig?

Compatible animated GLBs can retain their skeleton, skin weights, and animation clips after the preservation check. Results depend on the source model and compatibility checks.
